When ACT public school students return to classroom from Monday 18 May, there will be a strong focus on ensuring good health and hygiene practises are in place to help preventing the spread of COVID-19.
Ensuring our schools have a supply of hand sanitiser is a key part of this - and family owned and operated Canberra supplier Chemworks has engaged with the Education Directorate to ensure a regular and reliable supply of this product.
This week Chemworks has delivered 9,000 bottles of hand sanitiser to ACT public schools. This supply will continue with between 6,000 - 10,000 bottles a week to be delivered moving forward.
Chemworks is a market leading distributor in hospitality, food service and cleaning chemicals supplies in Canberra, ACT and Riverina region. Chemworks’ Jackson Barnes, who was helping to deliver the hand sanitiser throughout the week, said he was happy to be playing a role in helping the Canberra community during this time.
“If we can support each other, we’ll all come out of this stronger,” Mr Barnes said.
“At the end of the day it’s a duty of care, not just for us to be a supplier, but to keep everyone safe.
“If we can help, then the kids are safe. The teachers are safe. The exterior people are safe. We can help get everyone back to work, and that’s the name of the game.”
Schools have stocked up on soap, hand sanitiser and paper towels and all students and staff will be regularly reminded to wash their hands with soap and water or use an alcohol-based hand sanitiser.
As well as being a local Canberra business, Chemworks is a proud Supply Nation Certified Supplier. Supply Nation is a program that encourages organisations to use suppliers from traditionally underutilised groups, which offers substantial benefits for Indigenous owned businesses and Indigenous communities.
“Supply Nation is a non-for-profit organisation that aims to grow Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses through the promotion of supply diversity with Australia,” Mr Barnes said.
“Putting more money back into our local Indigenous community is something that we feel very passionately about.”
